Ann has worked with children throughout her life, be it teaching elementary aged children a variety of fiber arts (since 1993) or taking care of them as a pediatric nurse (since 1975), not to mention raising 3 children of her own. The Jellybean Collection combines Ann's experience with children and the design talents of the Brightneedle duo, Ann and Liz.
The first series in the Jellybean Collection Where in the World is Mary Kirby?, is designed not just for a child's skill level, but for a child's interest as well. Each chartpack gives young stitchers a taste of stitching along with a bit of history, geography, and mystery.
Each Mary Kirby chartpack tells a story of Mary's travels around the world with her dog, Hoover. Besides a graph and instructions, each chartpack includes a chapter of Mary's story written by Ann and hand-lettered and illustrated by Liz. The story pages include interesting facts or historical information. Also included in the package is a passport page and sticker to document Mary's travels and a small sterling silver charm representing the locale.
To keep children stitching, a new Mary Kirby adventure will be released approximately every three months. So that the designs grow with young stitchers, specialty stitches will be introduced from time to time.
